Family home renovation in Kilternan
This full home renovation was an exciting one to be part of. The family home was in need of redecoration and the clients decided on a full refurbishment to upgrade insulation, glazing etc. This gave us free rein to design the interiors from start to finish. The building itself is architecturally designed and has fantastic views of the Dublin Mountains. For this reason, a lot of our design was centred on maximising views, especially in the sleek modern kitchen where we kept most units at counter level in order not to block out the mountains views. Although certain elements of the home kept a more traditional feel, the kitchen choice was a matte handleless design with fully integrated appliances and quartz worktops. We retained the original cut stone fireplace in the living room and added depth and texture by introducing a variety of blue tones and patterns in the soft furnishings. Nearly all of the rooms had a very individual shape, therefore most of the bedroom furniture was custom made to suit the space. Incorporating a desk, window seat and wardrobes in the teen bedroom resulted in a very streamlined space that utilises every angled area as storage.
